Biography

The young Swisman Christoph Borter has studied the guitar under Stephan Schmidt at the Music and Drama College of Berne as well as under Alberto ponce at the Music College of Paris. He rapidly became acknowledged as one of the most promising young Swiss musicians.

Through a host of concerts given in Switzerland and abroad he has acquired the reputation of having both sureness of style and great musical sensitivity. Christoph Borter has collaborated with various orchestras (among others with the Symphony Orchestra of Berne and the Bern Chamber Orchestra with which he performed during the renowned "Musikfestwochen" fetival in Interlakan) and this collaboration has turned out to be profitable.

Musically speaking Christoph Borter's interests are eclectic. He feels at ease with almost every musical style and period, even though his favorite repertoires are the Renaissance and Baroque as well as Spanish and contemporary music.

Concurrently to his profession as concert performer he teaches the guitar at the Conservatory of Bern and is at the present time assistant of Staphan Schmidt at the Music and Drama College of Bern.
