His very appreciated “caprices” are a good example of elegance and virtuosity.

He was the first non guitarist compositor to write for the instrument.
Sonatina is probably his most beautiful guitar piece.
It was created in front of the French compositor Maurice Ravel, very impressed
by its quality and melodious beauty.

in a recital the Suite No 1 for lute of Bach.
He is rightly considered as one of the most remarkable guitarist-compositor of all times.
He had a guitar with an additional fret to accommodate the High C,
and he used it for the marvellous tremolo "Un Sueño en la Floresta".

Heitor VILLA-LOBOS (1887 - 1959)
Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra
(Allegro preciso - Andantino e andante - Allegretto non troppo: Vivo)

The Brazilian genius compositor Heitor Villa-Lobos has privileged seat in
the guitar literature of the 20th century. Villa-Lobos had a deep knowledge of the instrument,
as he had been playing it since he was young.
This circumstance, together with his huge talent, would create a deeply original piece,
in which, as Florent Schmitt said, one can sense that “the very breath has passed".
Composed in 1951, his Concerto for guitar is an impulsive and
nostalgic piece which remarkably values the soloist instrument.
