| Biography
Carlos Pérez was born in Santiago, Chile, in 1976.
He studied guitar since 1991 under the guidance of Master Ernesto Quezada
in the Academy of music of the Faculty of Arts in the University of Chile.
He had won numerous prizes, and among them, the first
prize of guitar of the International Competition for Young Instrumentalists
in Cordoue, Argentina, in 1993.
When he has 19 years old, he obtained the first prize
of the 10th International Guitar Competition "Alirio Diaz" in
Caracas, Venezuela, in 1996, and become the younest prize-winner of this
competition.
He participated in the guitar festival of Venezuela and
Martinique, and give numerous recitals in Chile, Paraguay, Argentina and
Uruguay.
In july 1997, he won the 20th edition of the International
Guitar Contest "René Bartoli" in Aix-en-Provence (France),
and obtained unanimously the great Prize of Interpretation of the concerto
"Aranjuez" of Joaquin Rodrigo, with the Sinfonia Orchestra of
Manchester under the direction of michel Brandt.
On the 2nd October, 1998, he won before 52 candidates
coming from more 20 countries, the 6th edition of the International Competition
"Printemps de la Guitare", placed under the High patronage of
Her Majesty Queen Fabiola of Belgium and organised with the partnership
of Artesia Bank and Kiwanis International.
